Massive March Update
We’ve got a ton of stuff to tell you about. This is going to be a collective update of everything that’s been going on since the beginning of this year. Before we get into that, Omega Vortex is hiring! Check out our list of openings and contact us with your resume and a list of references if you think you would fit in any of those positions.
For those of you who do not know, Omega Vortex is still very much in the startup stages of its life-cycle. While we’re busy developing our products and services, we do still have to make money and pay our employees. We do this through our Consulting Services. Our consulting service is a high-quality, professional way to get any web development or design work you need done. Our policies are optimized to bring superior value to our clients and allow us to take on many clients at once, without overload and impeding the work for any of our clients, and still allow our Software Engineers time to work on our own product line. If you or anyone you know needs any web development or design work done, contact us and tell us what you need.
Without further ado, let’s get into our updates …
Omega Matrix
Omega Matrix is a product we’re developing that is targeted at web application developers, but it brings added value to consumers through some of its features. We’re still not saying what exactly this product is or does, but it will be the center piece of all of Omega Vortex’s Products. We’re also inviting developers to get information on the technology to see if it’s something they would be interested in using in their own products. If you’d like an invitation to see what Omega Matrix is all about, please contact us. Developers only, please.
Consulting Policies
We have put our Consulting Policies up on the website in plain text. As I mentioned before, we spent a lot of time thinking about these policies to try and get the best value for our clients while being able to maintain our relatively small size, take on multiple clients at one time, still have time to work on our own products and services, and not overload our team. We believe these policies do all of those things very well, and invite you to try out our services to see for yourself.
OmegaVerge Update
OmegaVerge was temporarily put on hold to give an opening to allow the Open Source solution JFusion a chance to add support for Invision Power Board. Users of Invision Power Board and Joomla! were our initial target market and the appearance of this add-on to Joomla! looked like it was going to fill the need. It allowed us to turn back to some other things we needed to concentrate on, at the time. OmegaVerge is very much not a dead project, and we still intend to make a release in Q1 2008, support for Joomla! included.
OmegaFlash Update
Some work has been put into OmegaFlash, lately. We’re putting together an update that we intend to release early Q2 2008. This update will include visual improvements as well as some additional features. OmegaFlash will be going into an Educational Suite line of products and services that Omega Vortex will be developing over time. Another project for this suite is currently in the planning stages. More information about the upcoming project and additional projects for this suite will be announced later this year.
Journey of Souls Update & Delve
Delve was recently added to the JoS Team and will be bringing her design knowledge and imagination to our team in the form of maps, concept art, as well as story and background concept ideas. Please welcome her to the team.
Delve also comes to Omega Vortex as our new designer. Her abilities impressed me so much in her little interview that she was brought onto the team immediately and will be starting projects, soon. Expect some great things to come out of her, here.
Local Internships and Co-Op Program Available
Our big news of the year, so far. Omega Vortex is having an impact on education through development it has done and been apart of for the aid of schools and colleges in various locations around the country. We have also started a local Internship Program for College Students who are looking for a career in Software Development and a Local Co-Op Program for High School Students to give them an idea of what Software Development is all about. We’re raising the awareness of careers in software in Alabama and showing students that it’s a viable option. We also have plans to give a presentation to Juniors and Seniors at High Schools in our area to announce our program and let them have an opportunity to get involved.
For our Internship Program, if you’re currently enrolled in a Computer Science or Computer Information Systems program at any of: University of Alabama, Auburn University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Alabama at Huntsville, Jacksonville State University, or Gadsden State Community College, you are eligible for an Internship. We’ll have more information up on the types of Internships we have available, soon. In the meantime, please contact us if you’re interested. Omega Vortex believes in the power of telecommuting, as some of our current employees do so. We’ll be expanding our Internship program to cover more colleges across the country by the beginning of the 2008 - 2009 school year. We’re currently engaging in localized tests of our Internships, which is the reason we’re limiting it to just select colleges in this state.
Our Co-Op Program is currently only available to students of Gadsden City High School who have taken Computer Applications or its current equivalent, Computer Maintenance at the Technical School, or any of the Business-Tech classes. We’ll be expanding this program to cover more High Schools in the area by the beginning of the 2008 - 2009 school year.
Moving Forward
We’re moving forward with the intention to make releases of OmegaVerge in this quarter as well as OmegaFlash in Q2. Information on Omega Matrix will be passed around as we deem it appropriate to do so. Developers, don’t forget to contact us if you want an invite to get more information on the technology.
2008 has already been an exciting year for us and it will only get more exciting as time passes. We’ll be posting all major updates here from now on, so please subscribe to this forum’s RSS Feed to keep up with everything that’s going on with Omega Vortex.
